I never thought that there is anything that could make those ugly GRP-multihulls look even more ugly...

I guess I was wrong!

Thames barges used to sell space on their topsails; I can certainly remember one barge advertising:

BELL'S SCOTCH WHISKY

thus.

Egads! That is bad! I understand advertising and sponsorships, but that's over the top!

When I get home tonight, I've got a picture somewhere of appropriate sail advertising (blue moon & star on beautiful white spinnaker )

I can remember the "Mailpouch" and "Redman" chewing tobacco adds that took up the entire sides of midwestern barns. Is this relevant? Perhaps not.

What we have here are corporate racing boats and the bean counters want to maximize the bottom line. Can we go back to gentleman amatures?

There is likely to be some photo manipulation software used in the design process, but the images are actually printed on the sails.

I STILL would not want a picture of Howard Stern on my main...I have never seen such an ugly mug....
If I had to have someone's mug on it...Well, Hallie Berry...or my favorite Audrey Hepburn.

No real originality...If nothing else...
Am putting a replica of a Mohegan Turtle symbol on my new chute...At least it isn't gonna be Howard Stern...Give me a break!

Yep.. For the sails that they have done. If you check out their galleries, it's devided into sails that HAVE been produced (in the "Sails" gallery) and the ones that COULD be produced, just to give you an idea of what's possible (in the "Concept" gallery). The photos in the "Concept" gallery have all been clearly manipulated, and are not actual, physical sails.

I know a photoshop job when I see one

Fortunately, we're all spared the horror of having to see Howard Stern's face appearing in a local regatta. At least for now

Aesthetically, not pleasing.

Financially, it makes sense. To each their own ... I guess ...

Certainly offsets a lot of costs for a boat/crew.

They bastardize cars/trucks that way, have done so for many, many years.

If I was racing, I'd definitely sell every inch of the boat ... like they already (mostly) do.

Not a new concept, really.
