I learned to sail at Rondeau Park, Ontario. My aunt and uncle had a cottage there and the yacht club had lessons given on these boats.

As I remember, they were all built by the same man. They were 16 footers and 18 footers and were round nosed scows, gaff-rigged with the gaff almost vertical. I think they were cat boats with just the big main.

In the mid 50's they had cotton sails and there was talk of the new boats made of plywood having an unfair advantage.

I haven't been there in at least 40-45 years. Does anyone remember these boats? Do any still exist? Even a picture or two would stir some wonderful memories. Actually, it's amazing how vivid the memories I have are.

I sailed in Lark's, also. My grandparents had a cottage at Erieau. The boat was 16' in lenght. The only name that comes to mind is Lester Stokes. He was old in the 60's when I knew him.
