I picked up a 1963 Yanmar diesel on Saturday at an auction for the princely sum of $5. I am kinda pleased with myself for what I see as a win but it has been outside for a number of years, she had her "orifices" covered or plugged with rag. She turns over and seems to have compression although the decompressor is frozen along with a number of other small bits and pieces like the throttle. It is a horizontal single cylinder thing withe the letters NTS85 cast into the side, there is a brass plate on the block and I can read the date 1963. I have yet to have a chance to clean this plate properly to reveal any more pertinent info and I have left the motor at a friends as he had the tractor to lift it from my trailer and also till I can organise a trolley or similar for her. Can anyone tell me what the horsepower of this motor might be? and can anyone tell me what the weight is apart from "bloody heavy!" Opinions of its' likely usefullness would also be appreciated.... no suggestions of using it as a mooring please!
