RD, that is a schooner in the upper left but what one I have no idea. There are several large sailing vessels working the tourist trade down here in San Diego but I don't have any knowledge of the who, what, why of them.
I know that wood, Old Growth Douglas Fir with some piece having over 60 ayup, 60 rings per inch, will last as long as the Pilot does if the Museum takes care of her. They have some big work in front of them on the Berkeley, the ferry sitting on the otherside of Pilot and one or two of their other vessels. Big draw is the Star of India just to the left of Pilot, constant stream of touristas up and down the gangplank but right now, Pilot and the California, new acquisition are off limits to most folks.
But one good thing, they are infinitely better off than the vessels up the coast at San Francisco National Maritime Museum.*
