Yes - we went out sailing yesterday. Although I had a very bad cold I couldn't resist the offer of Armin and we went out the Flensburg Förde (Flensburg Bay). I figured there is nothing better than a strong honest breeze to blow the cold out of my head - and I was right.

At 10:30 we rigged everything up and by 12.00 we were out of the harbour. There is one thing which makes sailing pretty special with the NORDLYS. armin lost his prop about 6 years ago and never replaced it. He did in fact rip out his engine and never thought about putting one back in. Even though he sails to Norway every year and manages every situation without any major problems - a sailor he is at its best.

So we sailed out the bay and were alone! It was a very fine day with a nice breeze around 5-6 Bft and the sun was shining from a blue sky. To our surprise the buoys were gone (obviously they took them out because of the ice which covered the Förde a couple of days ago. Sailing back in around 15.00 we even set the Topsail because the wind started to blow less. Then coming into the harbour we had the usual problems with shifting winds an had to tack a lot. After a little show-turn in the harbour-peak we sailed to the berth with foresail alone, easily backed in went down and had some Grog.

I am feeling much better now. Last week I was a sick wreck - today I am healthy as can be.

Obviously the perfect prescription for a cold. Thanks for the story and picture Martin.

    Nice photo, thanks.

I've noticed that colds are defeated by a complete change of attitude.

So. does a certain attitude cause colds?
