    Question

After spending last summer happily working on/refurbishing my 24' HC Grebe sloop (1940)... another boat comes along. This "other lady" only needs bottom paint and will be sailing Lake Michigan this summer.

I don't yet know what I'll do with the Escapade. I'm in no real hurry to decide. Might finish the job, might sell her. But in the meantime she's currently in a cradle in my driveway under a tarp.

Is there anything I could or should do to keep her from deterioriating? Doesn't look like I'll be doing much work on her this year.

I'll guess that a lot depends on the current state of the boat, what's still not fixed, and the relative humidity in the storage structure.

Why not post some pics, and maybe expand on the state of the repairs?

Here's a photo from the day we trucked her over to my place. As for repairs, I've gutted the interior of some really ugly cabinetry, (not original) ripped out the old and useless electrical system wiring. Removed some dry rotted wood from cockpit area and MUCH TO THE DISMAY OF MANY ON THIS FORUM... reefed out the seams for re-caulking. (There's a thread last year where I opened up that can o' worms...). I make no apologies for that, though. The cotton I raked out was rotting in places, the seams are now nice and clean, the planks are strong and I had planned on grabbing the caulking mallet and cotton this spring. But then the other woman. Oh, well. She makes a nice play house for the kids...
