I am considering buying a 34 ft yacht. Built in the mid 60`s with 1 inch mahogany planks glued then sealed in cascover. She seems to be in good condition but has cascover been proved to be effective. Are there an common problems I should look for and what is cascover exactly!

To the best of my knowledge, Cascover is a nylon cloth sheathing, glued with resorcinol glue, used as a worm defence. I have never owned a Cascover sheathed boat but I did once consider buying one and was told by my local good woodenboat yard that the material is good, is still available, and can be repaired.

I am sorry that I cannot offer first hand experience, but that is what I was told.
