I rememeber quite a few years back a buddy of mine had a spring loaded hat rack mounted in his truck. It allowed him to put his cowboy hat in it and it would hold it tight up agaisn't the top of the cab.

Has anyone seen one of these or know where to get one? I need something like this in my truck to keep my Charlie One Horse straw hat.

What bothers me about this set up though is I don't store my hats where there is pressue on the brim of the hat. That tends to distort the shape of the hat. I always turn my cowboy hats upside down and lay them on the crown or make a cradle out of wire hangers and hang them.

Why don't you just put in a gun rack and hang it on that? Gun racks in pickups are cool. 'specially when they have fishing rods in them. (It's not hunting season year round you know!)

Not a bad idea Charles. Thats also a good place to carry your pool cue.

Donn, thats the one I'm looking for. Thanks. What worrys me about those though is you see how it puts pressuer on the brim of the hat. After a while I think this will destort the shape of the hat. Whathca think?

Another option would be to seatbelt an inflatable girl in the passenger seat, and just set the hat on her head. Give you somebody to talk to, too.

Most of the hat racks I've seen wouldn't hold a truck....

Chad, please don't take this wrong. You're not that tall, just leave it on your head. I also like the idea of the doll.

No offense taken Charles. I wear my hat usually when driving. The problem is when I have to get out of the truck and leave the hat in the truck. Our bank don't allow you to wear hats in the bank and so I would have to leave it outside. So there may be times that I would leave it in the truck.

Won't ALLOW you to wear a hat? MAN! In New England it's almost a law that you MUST wear a hat into the bank 3 months of the year!

Due to the recent increase in bank robberys in our area our bank has instituted a policy of no hats and sunglasses to be worn in the bank.

The only problem with the doll idea is that the wife might get jelous.

I used to have one of these gizmos. don't worry about distorting the shape of the hat. The spring doesn't exert that much pressure. As I recall, you can bend the thingy to "tune" the spring tension to suit the weight of your hat so that it just kinda "floats" up there.

    Chad,
Those racks can be bent to sort of fit the "sheerline" of your hat brim, to ease the pressure on the brim's edges. You likely won't be using it for long term storage of you hat, just when you need to leave it in the truck.
I don't like to leave my hats brim down either......sure makes ya look funny with the edges of the brim turned up
    I like cowboy hats.
