I wanted to re-post this link off Greg's Moonwalkers link.

It is chock full of mosly Russian/Soviet stuff. Optics, timepieces, sextants, textiles, submariner's clocks, glassware...a Swiss courier's bicycle from WWII, not to mention the original (well almost) Sputnik! I just wasted an hour there. Great fun, and looks like some good deals too.

Anyone have experience with high class Soviet optics? I returned a cheap spotting scope, years ago, because it was just awful.

Be careful, Ishmael; Russian optics are generally not good. I mean cameras and binoculars.
I'd rather go for glass ware, traditionnal stuff, etc. It's pleasant to look up all that heydays' Soviet gear, but it's scarcely useful.

    Eric,

I figured so, and am not really in the market, but some of the big binoculars are kinda interesting.

I figure maybe the Spetsnaz (sp) survival machete might be a better deal

What about their timepieces. Some of the mechanical watches look pretty nice. But again, I'm just skylarking.
