Happy Martin Luther King Day..I'm glad I have it off though this is the first place I've worked that celebrates it.It's sort of an odd feeling.who's workin' and who's not or who's workin and not workin Dan

Turned on the TV....bored for a moment...
All I get are Kennedy biographies....
Watched through at least three different programs...got tired of them and came back to the bilge.
So...MLK...guess you have been put on the back burner. Ecept for creating a day where we can honor the entire Kennedy clan...

I've never had MLK day off of work.
It's a government holiday.
I'm on medical leave this year.
What luck eh?

While its official observance is January 19th, many here in the South are celebrating Robert E. Lee Day today.

Welcome back, Paul.

Apparently, reports of your demise are exaggerated....

I think its actually a disservice to mix his day of rememberance in with MLK's. As it stands it is merely seen as a protest.

Paul...the civil war was over states rights...vs. fewderal rights....
Initially nothing about slavery...that came in 1863 and was, even then, limited in scope...if ya read the proclamation.

How 'bout this for hypothetical.

Discounting the slavery issue, what shape do you think our United States would be in if the states had retained the rights they've lost since about 1850 or so?

exactly, I've never placed much worth on state's rights myself.

Well, other than when Atlanta tries to steal my water.

Back to MLK, does Arizona still not celebrate MLKjr Day?
