Oh, man! That sheerstrake is SCULPTURE! I can't believe how "finished" she looks. I hadn't even decided just exactly where my sheer line was gonna BE yet when I was at that point... Just goes to show the difference between building a boat as intended like Dan did, and putting wood together and then "shaving" it back off again 'till a boat "appears" like I'm doing!

(BTW, I agree with Norm, that cradle is a work of art, too! You ought to draw up plans for it and market it. Or maybe do an article for "WoodenBoat" on how you built it? I've got to ask though... How in hell do you keep your shop looking like that? Do you do surgery in there too? LOL!)

Thanks for the nice words everybody ...... and Paul for posting the picture.

As for the shop, I spent much of my youth at a horse stable and was trained to sweep things up at the end of each day. Now it is done out of habit, but it has gotten to the point where it is therapeutic. I will take that any way I can get it.

    Red face

Y'know, I see this kinda stuff and I really start to feel inferior.

It's good to have reminders like this so that I can see what a truly good job looks like.

The durn thing looks to be going fast just sitting there. That's partly the design, but largely the level of care and workmanship that's gone into her.

    Be proud.

    Dan,
Great picture, the sheerstrake looks super. Is the sheerstrake white oak? I've been to the havenbuilders sight and the picts there are first rate. Thanks for posting them.

Thanks. Yep, the sheerstrakes are from white oak. The Herreshoff "swell" was cut in using a round bottom plane.
