    I'd be curious to know the all cost of doing it yourself, as opposed to just buying one.

    I've toyed with the idea of mounting a golf cart motor to a used outboard leg. I have several junk outboards to cannibalize, and golf cart motors can be had fairly cheap. The question is batteries. Six golf cart batteries are HEAVY, possibly too heavy to plane off like the boat in the video. We used to run a shop golf cart on three 12V batteries instead, and it flew due to the lower weight. Range was about half, of course.
