Default Need e mail server recommendations

My ip is dropping my " legacy" e mail address in a few weeks time, supposedly because it is costing them too much money to maintain. I am looking for some ideas as to what other free e mail services are out there that folks recommend. I already have a hotmail account but tbh don't care much for their set up. Thanks in advance.

I have one with Apple using @icloud.com, a couple others with @gmail.com.

Been considering one with @proton.me but haven't quite gotten to the point of actually going through with it.

My domain registrar is Gandi, in France. Highly secure (and private, due to French privacy laws). In addition to being a domain registrar, they offer email hosting, web hosting, etc.

Register a domain name of your own with Gandi, and it comes with 2 mailboxes, each with 3mb of storage. Additional mailboxes are USD $0.40/month with 3mb of storage, or USD $2.00/month with 50mb of storage.

I've been on Hotmail for 25+ years - since before MS bought it. It works fine, but I use Outlook on my desktop. The web interface isn't that much different than others really. GMail seems to be the goto, but I have no interest in supporting google.

Your internet provider probably offers an email address or 6, but if you change providers you have to let everyone know your new email address.

For my business, I have a website & the folks who host it provide emails - so I have Info@ & Garret@ my domain name.

I've been using mail.com for at least a decade. Never a problem and free. Did I mention free? They also host cloud storage. I don't do cloud, but I have a little bit of stuff here and a little bit on icloud. 'Mail' is an easy email suffix to remember, and up to a half a dozen free alternate addresses to link to the main address. I use a formal one with my right name for official stuff and a second one that is just as easy to remember for everthing else. jim.mahan@mail.com. They have spam filters and the page is customizable, with contact lists and news links and etc.

Gmail is simple, easy to use, and free.

I have one because I don't want to send messages to elected officials from my office account. That's bad mojo.

My IP provider (one of the 2.5 major Canadian telecoms) outsourced their email to Gmail. Whether I want it or not, I am using Gmail.

Easily. And Sergey Brin's minions don't get to root through every email message you send or receive.

iCloud is probably the best choice for Mac users. It's free and dumps email right into your Mail.app so no gerry rigging settings for other providers. Gmail has all the security liabilities of everything google. I wouldn't touch it or anything associated with google with a pole of any length.

Yep, that is my attitude as well. But my IP sold me south...

I've used Yahoo for forever. Minor aggravations, but not enough to get me to switch. I also have a gmail acct. but never used it much.

By registering your own domain. For $100/yr, I get marisystems.com, far more mailboxes than I could ever want or need, a reasonably decent web-based mail app (for when I'm away from my putr with Outlook), and a reasonably generous amount of storage for photos.

The company I use is pair.com.. but there are hundreds of them.

Only if you give them real information. I've had several gmail accounts of various profiles, my Indo-Sikh character was my favorite
