    Default Wolfhound and Clipper

I heard an aircraft come over here that sounded different from what I'm used to hearing. Flightradar24 says it is a Dornier C-146A Wolfhound from Duke Field north of Elgin Air Force Base. Wiki says both the planes and the field are used by Special Forces. It is circling around flying approaches and/or touch and gos at local airport which was formerly an Air Force Base. At same time, noticed a Boeing C-40A Clipper fly over.

This A-26 Invader just flew over. Flight Radar now shows it over Port Townsend.

There was a Black Hawk helicopter flying over tornado damage in Rolling Fork yesterday while I was there.

When I was on a wildfire crew, they were using those A-26 aircraft as retardant bombers in the steep, narrow canyons of southern California.

They would appear over the ridge and pop their tanks, close to the ground, so suddenly we barely had time to duck the red spray.

Sometimes it wasn't mixed very well and there'd be lumps the size of basketballs in it. One guy on my crew got smacked in the head and ended up in the hospital.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

The pilots of those things were utter madmen. But then the copter pilots ('Nam vets) who flew us to remote fires were just as nuts.

Ever heard of a "toe-in" exit?

That A26 was at Museum of flight. The owner is a great guy. The plane is set up for passengers. The guy owns a company that makes thingumabobs that sit above ground and somehow steer horizontal boring machines for conduits or pipelines or somesuch. He’s a British expat in Seattle.
