News tonight is that Alan Weisselberg may have tired of sitting in Riker's. He is no longer represented by Trump attorneys, reports say, which may have some bearing on the delays we are seeing in Manhattan just now.

Retaining one's own lawyer is a common shift when organized crime figures flip. Cassidy Hutchinson's legal team shifted too, when she determined to be cooperative with the J6 committee and the various other investigations.

    Well now.

This is just the beginning. I expect the federal and Georgia grand juries to also indict Trump by summer.

We need a Georgia indictment for sure. I guess you have to start somewhere, and being the first-ever indictment of a former president is a big deal. But he needs to be indicted for the stuff that really matters, not just for financial crimes and fraud. I hope he is. Today, that hope seems a bit more plausible. But, it ain't over yet by a long shot. No guarantees it will even go to trial.

The indictment contains more than 30 counts. More than 30 counts. MORE THAN 30 COUNTS!

Absolutely - but it's fitting that the first indictment against him is for something tawdry.

I woke this morning with a spring in my step.
The sun is shining and Trump is indicted.

So, this carries out until the election? What if he wins?????
Either way the most He'll get is some type of "House Arrest"!!!!!

He needs to go to jail!!!!
On Jan. 6th He lead a insurrection against the country! In front of the world! Why is there no indictment?????
This could end poorly for this country.

Calm down. Jack Smith is nearing the end of his investigation, gauging by his summons of Mike Pence to testify before the grand jury. Two separate DOJ grand juries are considering charges in two separate criminal investigations. And the State of Georgia is also close to an indictment of Trump. Best that they all be thorough in their investigations. This NY indictment is just the first of what will be several. I expect all indictments will come by the beginning of summer. Not too much longer to wait.

It's all too slow, He needs not just to be indicted but convicted for Jan. 6th before the election. I really doubt it will happen.
What if He wins the election? He or his running mate will just pardon him! It's been done before, for "the good of the country". The '70s come back to bite us in the rear.
This feels like winning a battle to set us up to lose the war.
There are a lot of different communities (Asian, Hispanic and others) that see the major failings of our cities as Biden's fault. Last night I was talking to a coworker (a very sweet Asian lady), the last thing we should be doing is defunding the police. What ever the answer to school shootings is, it's not defunding the police. Every night last week while We are driving home a major police event has happen. (2:00 AM on highway 99, south of Everett). Armed robbery, Hostage situation, An officer being shot in the head and a pedestrian (probably homeless) being hit and killed by a guy just driving down the street. The company now pays guards to protect the parking lot and to escort people to their cars. The person that told her to back to Her own country was a homeless panhandler, pissed off that She did not give him money. All the Democrat's fault. All Biden's fault! And Her views are not isolated or unusual.
If real change is not made before the election Trump even under indictment could win!
    This could go very "poorly"!

For those concerned about Donald Trump’s welfare in these trying times…. Trump was still posting on his failed social media site until 3AM yesterday morning. He resumed posting at 6:30AM.

    He's sleeping fine.

Also… I was told yesterday that Trump will be tried as an adult.

For one thing it would mean the attack on Mexico can proceed as planned.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

    By Dan Barry

The particulars of the indictment against former President Donald J. Trump have yet to be revealed, but the salient details are heaven-made for headlines and screen crawls: Sex. Porn star. Sex. Hush money. Sex.
\Mr. Trump maintains his innocence in now-familiar fashion, framing himself as the righteous victim of “thugs and radical left monsters.” But the indictment’s salacious nature resurrects the Donald Trump who existed well before he became the 45th president — before his ubiquitous MAGA catchphrase, before his claims to be greater than Washington or Lincoln, before the two impeachments and one Capitol riot.

I miss the wilderness areas. That seems to be something Europe doesn't really have in the same way. My life in Poland is a life of pavement and cobblestones. The miles of forest trails near my NW Wisconsin home--I do miss those.

My students are baffled and amused by the U.S. gun fetishization and constant gun violence.

It's sad that they don't understand that they are not really "free"--I guess they're too busy enjoying nation-spanning public transit systems and national health care to notice what serfs they are.

Is this one of those situations where the indicted HAS to be handcuffed?
Or am I just being greedy?

Yeah I have similar thoughts when I hear my kids didn't do live shooter drills at school, how much better life would be if we were free!

They're saying that he'll be fingerprinted and have his mug shots taken, but no cuffs. I'd cuff him then scruffle his hair up and then do the mug shots

How can the man be expected to finish draining the swamp if he's handcuffed? Sheesh.
