    Default Anybody read N.K. Jemisin?

NYTimes bestselling author ( " the most celebrated science fiction and fantasy writer of her generation " ) and 4-time Hugo Award winner.

I just discovered her and read her book The World We Make. Quite a conceit, cities being sentient within individuals as avatars, fighting R'yleh. As one blurb put it, ' it manages to include Borges and Lovecraft in its fabric '.

Recommended. It is the second book in her great cities duology, the first being The City We Became.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

Read a couple books. Not my sort of thing. Heaps of intricate exotica without a sturdy framework (e.g. anthropology like Ursula Leguin or folklore like Tolkien) or much direction. The dreamblood riff is pretty fuzzy stuff.
