Default Epoxy Bonding of SYP vs. Douglas Fir, Pine, etc...

I used to do alot of pre cuts for wooden crate construction.
I always liked the way the saw blade "sang" when cutting SYP.
My thoughts are though that with its higher density and resinous qualities vs. say, Douglas Fir, it wouldn't wet out and/or bond as well?
    Educated comments please.

    Density is alright.
    Resin can be a problem.

I used it for thwarts in my Ilur and glued one of them in place to add 'thwartships stiffness. I bonded it to the plywood sides and the oak knees and no problems for 4 years now.

That said, I think your instincts are right. Maybe only use it where you can keep an eye on it?

P.S. It always seems a lot heavier than DF, too. probably that resin.

SYP has rosin and that is a petroleum product turpentine is refined from. Good for rot resistance but not best for glue. Spruce is better for glue.

Southern yellow pine covers a bit of territory. There is long leaf yellow pine and short leaf. Long leaf is reputed to be more durable. Lumberyards can be vague, intentionally.

Does Whiz even speak English? His boatbuilding credentials seem to be similarly suspect.
