    Very retro. Dr. Zhivago-esque.

Theoretically vulnerable, bu no one will touch him……………….unless it's a single actor or very small group because of the risks of Russia as a failed state

(how can predictive text make 'dust' from 'state"?).

    GRRRRRRRRR I hate predictive text

Armoured, of course - presumably so was Hitlers, and maybe the one Biden used a little while back. The British royals also have armoured rail coaches, IIRC.

I've thought that railways would be vulnerable - I mean, you know where the tracks are, and where a train can go. A driver can't exactly evade anything either by steering this or that way...

On the other hand, I guess you can put as much armour plating on a railway car as anyone could imagine without affecting its function, unlike on a limo, or a plane. So Putin could be as invulnerable as if he were traveling in a tank. And probably railbeds are a bit more ... forgiving of delayed maintenance. Highways can degrade into a potholed mess in the kind of freeze/thaw you'd find in Russia, which would slow any needed evasive driving. But the train will run like it's on rails despite a bad pothole season.

Conecting the rails electricaly should make the signals go red and stop the train, it can probably be overridden, but recent events in Greece shows the danger of manualy directing the traffic

I'd be very surprised if there were not a trainload of heavily armed guards just a couple of hundred yards ahead of that train.

Gotta wonder what they were thinking : " Just clear the platform, no need to clear the buildup off the tracks . . . . . "

Any mode of transportation with a known path isn't secure.

This is what an armo(u)red train should look like:

The various British Royal Train coaches were never armoured, and are not armoured. Neither are the various automobiles and carriages in the royal mews.

Indeed he does, because he is unwilling to travel by aircraft.

Be nice to at least try to blow Putins train off the tracks, even if he didn't get a scratch. Just to remind him that people want him dead and he can never, ever relax as long as he lives. JayInOz

Bessie Smith had her own 72 foot railroad car in the 1930s. I imagine she might have been the only black bisexual female singer to have one at the time.

Prompts one to imagine living in a country with enough rail infrastructure to make a presidential train worthwhile. :sigh:
