Lots of flooding going on down there. Sure would be nice to get some local reporting.
Admin, are you listening?
Lots of flooding here, too.
Yeah. When lots of folks were saying how miserable they were in the cold weather, with pipes frozen, phone lines down and roads blocked, Joe's posts his dumb grin in a t shirt and says 'hey, snow? What's that? I'm off to some SoCal beach to eat some tacos!'.
I don't wish him any harm, but let's not rush that irritation back here.
Here too

How's it going Rob? Ted?
Some of our friends have evacuated and some are stuck due to road closures from flooding or damage.
Mostly people in the foothills just above us and along the rivers are being affected.
We just have streets covered in ankle to knee deep water and some enormous puddles where we live, so far.
My daughter lives in Lake Arrowhead. Their street was plowed last Friday, they had been snowed in for a week. They left the day they could get out and went to stay with family in Palm Springs. The main grocery store in Lake Arrowhead is red tagged due to snow load after another grocery store in Crestline (nearby) had their roof collapse. They are planning to head back Sunday and are bringing lots of groceries for their neighbors - some still have not had their roads plowed.
The lowlands are doing fine. We are soggy but no major issues so far.
Some of the foothills may have mudslides, especially where recent brush fires have removed the vegetation. As stated, some of the local mountains have a surplus of snow, which is something super rare around here. In fact, we hardly got any snow at all the last 2 winters.
Many of the beaches near rivermouths are inundated with plastic trash, probably due to the inordinate amount of homeless which live in tents along the (cement) waterways. The homeless have no where to dispose of their refuse, apparently, and so it all ends up on the ground near where they live.
this storm is supposed to be a “Pineapple Express” of warmer wetness, so if the mountains get rain on top of all that snow, it may cause a lot of flooding. We will see.

Ground is saturated. We got over 2" of rain water last night just in Alameda. A lot of the streams are flowing over the roads causing many not to go to work today. Many of roads are broken and have huge potholes that can swallow up truck tires. Many of the cute mountain towns are being hit hard. Lots of retirees and folks on fixed incomes are struggling. The snow pack which holds the water in the Serrias are becoming quite heavy. Avalanches are likely. Roofs are collapsing. Nearly all mountains passes are closed from snow and rockslides are happening slowing or stopping emergency services including those which bridge the coast to the valleys.
The weather changed causing me not to ride to Death Valley with my friends yesterday. I am sad that I could not go but it was a wise choice for many reasons including low fuel stocks at gas stations and serious road safety concerns which has included new snow falls and ice.

The snow and heavy rains has stopped my new house construction setting us back at least a month or more causing us to rethink our upcoming rental agreement.

The weather map showing a straight wide blast of wet air is striking.
another 8 ft due in Mammoth ,we're told today.
Yosemite will be closed until at least March 17.
Sequoia and Kings Canyon parks are also closed.
I think he meant you have gone from years of drought to this horrible flooding. Hope you guys are coping successfully. Have you ever thought of moving to Maine? Sure we have Winter but you can put a coat on. We don’t fall into the sea or dry up with drought or have our streets flood out.![]()
I look forward to seeing Joe here once more.
IMAGINES VEL NON FUERINT
Shoot, Bro. We are so far from the ocean, that if a bunch fell off, we might could have a real sailboat on a mooring.
We’ve thought about moving a bunch of places, but I don’t foresee us moving any time soon. Maybe if society collapses and we wander the countryside; otherwise we’re pretty stuck here.
Which, the fires the past few years make the water so much more dangerous, because there’s not a lot holding the dirt in place in a lot of places in the foothills and mountains. Our friends have only just moved into the new house they were able to build after theirs burned down a few years ago, and now they’re in danger of losing it to mud/rock slides.
Snow?
Even here in the Gunshine state that would only stop natives. Most of us come from places where that wouldn't even cause a school delay.
terry probably needs that
That picture was taken three days ago...
Actually they would be shocked too and be digging out. It has been raining since before Christmas in a series of atmospheric rivers on land that has suffered years of drought and mountains that tower what ever can be found on the East Coast.
100 inches of snow in the next few days too. This new story is 15 miles from my new house construction.

On Monday the next system will hit us next and the rest of March.
Flooding is a serious concern. The fire season that will follow will be wicked.

We are under Flood Warning and Flood Watch.

I don't think Joe's going to be much help...
SE Wisconsin got a average of 8", and is vanishing just as fast.
Looks like it is time to get the chain saw out. Here on the coast of Maine we got about 10-12" of snow last Wednesday and an inch or two Thursday. It is mostly melted now. Today we are looking at a temperature around 40F with a few clouds. Very warm winter so far. The road into town has only had the surf over it a couple of times this winter.
