Me either. I think it is an Aphrodite 101 with a rig that more suited for lighter wind areas. I appreciate her Nordic lines very much.

Speaking of nice boats - I do miss my Bird (sailed like a star). I also know she would have eventually killed me or one of my crew...

    Nice! Thanks Ted.

    Are those big prams Pelicans?

    Second down is gorgeous.

What is the boat in the first picture? It makes me want to go out on the water and work hard, doing something useful. I am not sure what that boat is for, but it sure looks useful!

Those pelicans are great. Sure makes you want one - they can do nearly everything a person would ask on the bay - cruise, fish and camp.

I would highly advocate comming out with my friend on Freda B the 80' schooner on one of their charters in summer (the gaff i show in the thread). They do sunset sails from Sausalito to the Ball Park catching a few moments of the SF Giants game. A far greater value and far more comfortable than the Matthew Turner. Besides their hospitality is world class and great professional crew who will allow you to join in sailing her if you ask. And they do sail rather than motor.

We had a grand sail on the scow-schooner Alma, maintained by the National Park Service.

Not sure if she's still sailing tours from the Maritime Park. There have been closures due to COVID and a safety review of the structure.

Ted, I missed this thread yesterday, - is the boat on the first photo "J.H.Madden, Sr." a converted motor whaleboat / ship's lifeboat ? ( great photos, thanks for posting )

    Rick
it is. I seen it actually working in Sausalito. Sausalito still has some industry and working boats there although it is dwindling.

I am hoping to haul out my boat at Spaulding Marine after next weekend (was an important reason i was there). I am going to pay someone to do the bottom this time but with great intentions. Hank Easom who built my boat in 1971/72 with Myron Spaulding doing some of the nice interior carpentry. He passed recently - The celebration of his life is going to be held there on the 25th. I thought it would be a warm, loving tribute to have Pretty Penny on the same deck standing along side his family and many, many friends.
