That is the Energy 48 built by Arthur Martin of Martin Marine. He basically scaled up his popular Appledore 16 rowing shell by 3X and put some small accommodations inside. WoodenBoat magazine featured it in an issue probably back in the 1980's, unfortunately there were no takers for more boats as a 48' boat with 20'er accommodations was a no sell even though it operated on not much more than diesel fumes. Personally I like it, Off Center Harbor's Aroha is very similar in concept.

Yes, I posted that earlier, Smith of Samish, Washington were builders.

laurent Giles, Jolly Boat, was another home plan to commercial build.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

What is the America term for those, "pocket yachts"? The British Corribbee has been a favourite small "proper boat", I have long admired, also a Tucker design and the original built in wood by a home builder. Im all Bolgered out, vast portfolio from tiny dinghy to full on square riggers and some interesting power boats.

Search engines can be quite restrictive based on past browsing and location. If anyone else can find any more examples or pictures of the modified Martha Jane, please do post what you find.

Oh, yeah! I totally forgot about Blueberry. I need to read the David Hume book:

It gets 2 stars on Goodreads, but I bet I'd give it more. I really really like this boat.

Unkown? Not by someone with his or her head seriously oriented toward boats. I've owned (and cruised extensively) two of his designs (Dovekie and Shearwater) for a total of 30 years. Get your head out of the muck man!

So you claim to know of every designer in Europe who has drawn boats for home construction in the past 4 decades? Must be wonderful to be such an oracle.
