    Default Yosemite.

The park is closed because there is so much snow. Quadzilla’s friend works there, and has no idea when he’ll be able to return.

Tioga Pass always closes from snow, but the whole park closing isn’t very common.

    Lots of snows, there.

Well that’s good for our rivers, reservoirs and aquifers. It’ll melt soon enough.

So long as the spring melts are gentle. Cold nights, moderate days.

That's accumulation so far. I think I saw that parts of the Sierra Nevada had 50 FEET of snowfall including compaction and meltoff.

I was planning to ride the motorcycle through on 178 over the Sierra's on Friday about 75 miles south of Yosemite. It may not be possible with all the snow, rain and rock slides. With another atmospheric river on the west coast increases the chances of a lot more drama.

2X the normal snowpack down to 2000 feet. Thursday's storm is going to be one of those pineapple express warmer ones, rain going up to 7000 feet. Probably going to be some flooding.

I can’t believe I got hooked one week following the trials and tribulations of a small snow removal business in Mammoth. That’s where I first learned to ski at age 16 with awful awful rental boots. A year later some dumb parent allowed me and a dozen highschool kids to stay unsupervized at their condo.

Ah, Mammoth… first place I officially broke 55mph on dirt, first place I rode a World Cup race on a modern “World Cup” style course (RIP The Kamikaze and Ezakimak), and the first place I won on a single speed in an XC race.

I’ve never been to Mammoth in the snow.

I remember when I first heard about mtn bike racing at Mammoth my immediate reaction was “ouch, all those rocks”.

I've only been there once, we had the youngsters over here at christmas though. Took em fishing and they caught the biggest damn snapper I've ever seen, hopped the plane and went straight back to that snow ,or near it.
I'll put the youtube on tonight, my wife'll watch it and before you know it she'll be asking her sister if she knows the people. Pretty much guaranteed she will. Eh.
Incidental, we didn't visit Yosemite or get to SF because it all broke. 89/90.

I've heard of Hetch Hetchy, some think that saved it.
