    Default Polycarbonate and G/Flex?

I want to fabricate a replacement chip-catcher attachment (direct's planer chips into my dust collector) for my half-century old INCA jointer/planer. Have in mind basically to duplicate as best I can what the original item looks like, using some 1/4" and 1/8" thick polycarbonate sheet and a 12" piece of 1/8" wall thickness, 3" OD tube. I can reuse the original's steel spring clips to secure both sides to the planer's table.

If anyone reading this has used Gougeon's G/Flex epoxy to bond polycarbonate plastic together into an assembly of some sort I'd like to know whether / how well it worked. Their tech articles suggest simply sanding with 80-grit sufficient for strong bonding then a 24-hour cure interval.

Is solvent bonding an option ? There are also several "polycarbonate glues" advertised.

You'll no doubt be aware of the general 'plastic' flame treatment for G flex.

SP- there is a good article on joining polycarbonate on the Acme Plastic website - - - 'https://acme plastics.com/content/which-glues-work-for-polycarbonate-plastic/ ' ( no affiliation )

Polycarbonate should pretty easy to glue, even with regular epoxy.

polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene are not.

I think the flame thing is for low surface energy plastics, polyethylene and polypropylene frinstance.

There are good pvc glues available in plumbing supply places.

Regular West 105 epoxy sticks like nobody's business to polycarbonate. So do glues developed specifically for the material and they'd be my first choice. But if you don't have them and do have the West, then that would be a good choice. Even duct tape will do for the project you are proposing.
