Default I don't believe Biden will run for POTUS again

Sure, he says that he will. However, Jill has become protective, for a reason I believe. She's no dummy, she sees the way her husband walks, same as I do. I Suspect Biden says he will be the candidate is only to avoid being a lame duck a moment before he has to.

    I hope not...but then, who?
In the US this perverted idea of “blood and soil” over “constitutional principles” is the most radical and anti-democratic and anti-Conservative idea I have heard in my lifetime.

kamala harris has got to be one of the most short sighted and generally ****ty vp picks ever

there's three up and comers from my home state
but they aren't quite ready to make a run yet: gretchen whitmer, dana nessel, and elissa slotkin - lets see how the first two navigate gun control and political extremism and abortion rights during this year in michigan and we'll know what we need to know about each of them; the esteemable elissa slotkin needs a tour as a senator - on the plus side, all three of them make right wing whacko heads explode

i like pete buttigieg quite a lot, but the nation's sadly not ready for him, yet

I still don't understand why Cory Booker hasn't attracted more attention.

And to be fair, Bernie Sanders does not show Biden's slowing.

He needs a sharp mind and some energy and stamina. He still seems to have enough of both at least as far as his public appearances go.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

Being underestimated is among Biden's greatest strengths, it seems.

    I'm thinking 1932.

I don't see an FDR anywhere out there on the horizon.

Gretchen Whitmer seems to me to be the best potential candidate, assuming that Biden recognizes that running for a second term would blow the D’s best opportunity to defeat the chatotic Republican Party.

Uniting the country may no longer be possible in the short term. Uniting the Democrats is all that may be needed to win, especially if TFG loses the primaries and runs as an independent (fingers crossed).

Yeah, Whitmer is an attractive candidate, and a state governor's office is the best possible place to run for pres. I would vote for her in a second over that dumpster fire Newsom.

Given Mr. Biden's age, I would guess many people would think that a vote for him his possibly a vote for his VP. If many people share our Mr. Pless' opinion of Ms Harris, she would be a liability, but ditching her would look terrible.
    An interesting strategic problem.

Jokes about the Democrats NOT being a united party go all the way back to Will Rogers at least.

the last time America was united was WW2, and even then just befiore the Bund had a following as did the isolationists. I reckon it will get worse before it gets better unless a national threat comes along out of the blue, like a pandemic………………………….

I think you may be caught in the circular process where those who should stand do not because the old guard hanging on to power will not allow them room, and prefer clones of themselves, or indeed one of their geriatric own.

True, but the present state of the GOP has seemed to have had a unifying effect on the Dems. Also, the midterm results bucked historical trends, perhaps showing that conventional wisdom isn't as dependable as it once was.

Just so. Not an attainable goal, for the moment, in viewing possible candidates.

I am a long time Joe supporter! I even have the T-shirt! If he runs I have his back.

If Joe steps aside, I will knock on doors in support of Newsom.

I would also support a true American hero... Cory Booker!

Good point. Newsom has said he won't run if Biden runs, was that a way of saying he will run if Biden doesn't?

    results:

At this point, the "known names" were Hillary, Edward's, and Kucinich. The others had no real name familiarity.

Trump registered as a Democrat in 2001, so nothing's off of the table.
