It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

I was in your position, Dan, 12 years ago. Once the surveyor confirmed that the hull was fair and solid, I jumped at the price recognizing that the boat was going to be the maritime equivalent of a "free horse." I enjoyed almost every bit of the journey of the restoration, discovering all the things the surveyor missed and learning how to fix them. Now I know the boat better than anyone from her past and as a result of my considerable effort, she also has a future. In addition, you get at least 4 really nice clamps (shown in one of your early pictures)!
Thank you Bruce!
I did end up taking her so this will be an interesting year.
To me she looks like a nice boat. Likely not Colin Archer. However he did draw some little known pleasure boats which were fairly sleek. Norsk Sjöfartsmuseum has pretty much all his drawings in their archive.
The Danish designer Udzon is a name I come to think of........

Yes she has some resemblance to the Spidsgatter!
The thing that convinced me of taking her was her very cool bronze rudder that was tucked away. I´ll take pictures of it as it probably is the best clue to her heritage.
Would the 8'6" beam be an attempt to keep it "trailerable"? Appears weighty, but legal without permits, eh?

It could be a Pettersson, Riemer or Holm. You can search the archives for drawings that match. This one is 8.5 x 2.4m.

That sir, is 97% match. And it really shows from the other view with the rudder (that is nearly the same) and the cockpit that is 100% match.

The proportions does not add up if you scale it to 9,6 meters. I wonder if you would change both proportions and scale if you would use a design. I don´t know.
How did you use the search? Did you put in the dimensions?

Do you have a wife or girlfriend that you like around? Ask them that question. Haha!!
