Spring is a long way off for us.
Tomorrow's forecast is for -20F with 30mph winds.
Cold, but it's a dry cold.![]()
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

I never understood groundhog day. The first day of Spring is March 20th. So you don't need a genius marmot to tell you on February 2nd that we are facing 6 more weeks of winter.
"They have a lot of stupid people that vote in their primaries. They really do. I'm not really supposed to say that but it's an obvious fact. But when stupid people vote, you know who they nominate? Like so many of our "days" it has deeper roots than a Bill Murray movie plot. This is the half way point between the winter solstice and spring equinox, depending on your religious bent it might also be known as "Candlemas" or "St Brigid's Day" going back further you'll find "Imbolc".

Saw a great Johnathon Winters bit on a PBS Comedy review last evening wherein he speaks with the voice of the Groundhog. I forget his comment on the mud hole he lives in and his wife, but they were signature Winter's.
Quebec's rodent prognosticator was found dead.
Their Spring's gonna really suck.

Meteorological spring? What is that?
The explanation I heard is that if the groundhog sees its shadow, it is probably a bright, cold, sunny day - the kind the "polar vortex" produces. And if it is still that cold, chances are it is going to stay cold all the way to the equinox, at least.
But with global weirding going on, all bets are off.
I'll give you something that's a better predictor than a groundhog.
