No data for Oz.
Must be the odd croc around.
Locally our hazards are Deer, Squirrels and Wild Turkeys. Of course, if you stray near the shore the Lobsters may drag you in and eat you. They eat everything and each other.
Those are all mammals. No reptiles (alligators, crocs, large snakes) or fish (sharks) were listed. Alligators and sharks account for a person now and then in the U.S.
Insects would be far worse...
How many deaths from coyotes each year in the US? 1?
about forty deaths by domesticated dog per year in the united states
mostly children and elderly people
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.
Large mostly-hairless primates are the really dangerous ones.

Close to100%, unless cremated.
Worms, maggots, fungi and bacteria.
I'd much rather lay in my bunk all freakin day lookin at Youtube videos .
The figure for OZ are limited by their truth .
No large mammals but just about everything else on land wants to kill you with poison.
Just an amateur bodging away..
We are all eventually eaten by worms.

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Coyotes? That's a surprise.

The big surprise to me is the high odds of being mauled by a brown bear in Europe. I didn't think there were enough of them left, even in the east.
I'm also surprised by the danger of black bears compared to brown bears.

They forgot to mention worms.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

About the only thing to worry about around here. quite a few cottonmouths/water moccasins around but even if they killed you, they couldn't eat you. There have been some black bears reintroduced along the Mississippi River, but there is not much chance of running across one. If you were dead in a body of water, turtles would probably eat the soft parts after you rotted enough to soften up some.

Coyotes like children.
What, no fungi and microbes?

It’ll be coyotes and fire ants for me. Hopefully after I’m gone.

somebody cribbed the idea for this paper from a junior high science fair.
i read the abstract. the criteria, methodology, and stated purpose add up to not much of use.
Using pie graphs is inspired.
pie i have eaten
pie i have not eaten
No pythons?
this entire "study" might have been done using wikipedia articles.
"dude, the science fair is tomorrow!"
"no worries, bro, i'll make some graphs."

One of "those" maps. NZ has been eaten entirely by a cartographer - one of the most dangerous species known to our nation.

My best chance to be killed and eaten near my home is from a black bear, followed by a cougar, which is an animal that Michigan DNR refuses to acknowledge as present in Northern Lower Michigan, even though there have been many sightings in the past several years…
