Funny you should say that. Encountered the same 'attitude' in central SD many years ago - even with photo evidence from game camera's. My take? I recall reading, many years ago, that GFP's had worked to re-introduce them in the Black Hills - and over time, they 'migrated' out as their numbers increased. Suddenly, I could no longer find that literature documenting this. Suspicious - wonder if they were wondering about liability.

We have them all around Lincoln, as well. Made nat'l news awhile back, when a bachelor headed west and was finally caught in Illinois. Collared, so they could track. On camera in Lincoln, enroute. Ill. offered to 'give it back', which nebr declined. It's in a private game park now.

I still remember a few years back when I was walking to my car on campus and a young coed walked past me in the opposite direction and smiled at me.

I thought to myself, "I've still got it!"

Then I realized that I'd been talking to myself and she just felt sorry for the old coot.
