    Default Not again….

Almost exactly one year ago, my wife fell off a chair and broke her right hip. 911, ambulance, trauma center, and partial hip replacement. Three days in the hospital, 2 weeks in a rehab place… she got lots of PT, but her walking never really returned to her usual pace.

This past Tuesday, she fell again… waited until this morning, when her pain increased and couldn’t walk at all, to call 911. After three x-rays and a CT scan, she has a fracture of her left greater trochanter… have to wait until tomorrow for an MRI to see if the crack is deep enough to require a surgical nail or not.

The only ray of sunshine here is our good insurance. Last years event was billed at about $42,000… it only cost us $1700 out of pocket. This years event is likely to be a little less.
"Reason and facts are sacrificed to opinion and myth. Demonstrable falsehoods are circulated and recycled as fact. Narrow minded opinion refuses to be subjected to thought and analysis. Too many now subject events to a prefabricated set of interpretations, usually provided by a biased media source. The myth is more comfortable than the often difficult search for truth."

The new, one level house will be a help for her to get around safely - thinking of you both, and hoping for best results ! ( wife has had 2 knee replacements / 1 hip , daughter has had both hip sockets rebuilt - - we now live in a single- level house, and daughter and son-in-law are building a single-level house )

Oh, no, Norm. Here’s hoping for a good outcome. When mobility is already a challenge for her, that’s definitely adding insult to injury. I wish you both the best.

I am so sorry to hear this, Mr. Bernstein. A good friend of ours (an older person, of course), recently slipped and fell off of a freakin' two-step ladder in her kitchen, and to say it changed her life forever would almost be an understatement. When you get to be my age (I am almost 65 now) it seems like all those things you took for granted are out to get you. I truly do hope your wife comes through this and can get back to life as normal as quickly as possible.

There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

Do you know that osteoporosis is one of Parkinson’s side effect. I take shot of Prolia every six months. I haven’t broken anything since, but I’ve been a lot more careful after breaking my hip and crushing a vertebrae in quick succession.

    Edited to change drug name.
