Bidets, water wasters and a 1st world option.
No one mentioned newspapers, not only cheap but a political comment in itself at times. And I had a roll of toilet paper printed with the face of a long gone state premier….. now gone to a museum…….

Just take a healthy handfull of snow and scrub your crack, if you are lucky there are some ice in there too. It'll feel just like a river in Brazil

Here you'd have to break the ice with an axe. Snow works, though, if it's somewhat wet and you can make a snowball, although it's not comfortable.

When away from the 'comforts of home', I like water, if it won't befoul things for everyone else. Wilderness camping - it was snow in winter, and moss in summer. Even here in the NW though, moss is not always handy... so leaves.

Not so cool for the folks downstream, is it?

I would have though you'd have given it some distance from water and buried the material.

In a jam, I have cut off a shirt tail and also used a sock.

Mostly, I carry a bandana and some TP or paper towel with me in the field, or on the boat, as a matter of habit

One Indian peeing in the river is picturesque. 1000 Indians peeing in the river is pollution.

Take one sheet of tp fold it twice tear a small corner off of it and wipe, oh that piece you tore off. That to clean the crap out from under your finger nail.

there was paper (he he) that circulated in Australia a while back that said 50% of people wipe front to back, and 50% back toward the front.

Until recently I used to let it dry on then pick it off and store in a snuff box I carried in my waistcoat pocket then when full dispose of it in the used ticket bin on the bus.

Now in old age I use the curved handle on my walking stick reaching back over my shoulder, and wash it when I get home.

Kesey in “Sometimes a Great Notion “ describes an Oregon coastal Indian reading a page from Thomas Mann’s “The Magic Mountain “, tearing it off, and wiping her rear.
