Here too.
Eggs are still a cheap source of protein.
I'm paying just under 4 bucks a dozen.
Keep calm, persistence beats resistance.
I think some flocks have been culled due to avian flu.
"Visionary" is he who in every egg sees a carbonara.

"Since early this year, a deadly avian flu has been reducing poultry flocks — specifically turkeys and egg-laying hens. That's one reason for the unrelenting increase in prices. But the situation has been exacerbated by elevated feed and energy costs for producers, in addition to high demand in the supermarket."
We get our eggs from a couple's flock down the street but in winter (sadly) they don't lay as much.

Just came back from shopping eggs ranged from $5.30 to $8.00 a dozen.

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.
Since my son got his chickens we don’t need to buy as many eggs. Chickens can be really cute.
They are too busy learning to drive after hearing about the goldfish……………..
Eggs here are about $7 dozen now. We used to get all we could use from a neighbor with chickens. Coyotes and/or hawks got most of the chickens though, so he hasn’t had as many eggs lately.

My local mini farm only produces about a dozen a day in the winter. You have to be lucky to be there at the right time. It’s a “pay what you can” arrangement. I leave a tenner. Because I can. And the eggs are great. Easily worth 83 cents each.
I paid $8 and change for a carton of 18.

One of ours is broody, and the other two don't like the heat, so supply is a bit patchy.
Also they have taken to hiding them in random places
The Avian Flu. English Sparrows are the common vector in Wisconsin.
Egg prices are up from a year ago. But for feed conversion? You can't beat chickens.
If this Corona Virus mutates to infect pigs? Most if not all large hog operations are to a point isolated.
