    Default White spots on/in redwood

I'm building my wife a guitar in the style of the Gibson J185. I thinned the first soundboard too thin and am considering a second set of redwood that I have. But these spots. Could it be salt? Any other ideas? Not sure how "thick" these spots are, but they're present on both sides.

I appreciate any help you can offer.

No idea what those are, but I've seen similar spots in some cedar that I have. Mine was dropped and cut here on the property, so it's never been exposed to salts. Do you have an offcut with a spot in it that you might be able to section through? Might be informative.

I went back and looked at it again yesterday. There are just too many spots. I'll just get another set and not sweat it.
