Brings to mind some duck hunting trips in my square stern canoe with the outboard. The front of the canoe sliding onto the ice then breaking through and the outboard spitting out ice cubes.

I can remember when, in my youth, I would take my canoe out on a small lake and break my way through the thin ice.
Heavy clothing, no life jacket.
Not too bright.
