Headline this morning is that Harry says his older brother once knocked him to the floor. If I got a headline every time my older brother knocked me to the floor I’d be more famous than the Kartrashians.

it would have taken a lot of discipline to say nothing, but that is what they needed to do. make their exit. give their reasons once, and get on with their lives.

Trying to make money and stay relevant however they can with whomever they can. Maybe they should team up with Trump. Or at least ask him for some tips.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.

Trying to make fame and money by playing victims and attempting to destroy others on claims of... disputable credibility

No, I actually have more respect for the Kardashians, and I don't even know how many of them stand behind the plural name.

This OP Ed on the Beeb is thought-provoking.
Forget, for one moment, the allegation of a physical attack by his brother reportedly set out in Prince Harry's upcoming memoir Spare. Put to one side claims of shouting matches and William criticising Harry's new wife.
It's all good juicy stuff and it reveals - if true - the depths to which the relationship between the brothers fell.
It is unsurprising that the palace has held its nose, refusing to comment on private experiences that a fair number of families might have gone through one way or another. The Royal Family, most people agree, deserves some privacy.
But at the heart of his story is one allegation that has gone entirely unanswered by the palace - that his family leaked and planted negative stories "against me and my wife" to the press.
In a clip previewing this Sunday's sit-down interview with ITV's Tom Bradby, the Duke of Sussex is asked how his desire for privacy sits alongside his tell-all biography.
"That," Harry says, "would be the accusation from people that don't understand or don't want to believe that my family have been briefing the press."

Image caption, In happier times: The brothers came together to unveil a statue they commissioned of their late mother Princess Diana in 2021

The duke said the same sort of thing in last year's Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan. There was a deal, he said, between him and William that they would never brief against each other.
He explained the deal was born out of their experience of their separated parents - Diana and Prince Charles - feeding vicious briefings to the media through third parties.

Then, Harry says, he found out the office they shared, the Kensington Palace communications team that was supposed to speak for and defend both him and his brother, was feeding negative stories to the media. The couples officially split their offices in January 2020.
No details have emerged as to which stories he means but it's perhaps not hard to guess. Just after the Sussexes' wedding, tales began to emerge about Meghan's behaviour towards palace staff, about demands she reportedly made over the 2018 ceremony, about how she had made Kate, now the Princess of Wales, cry.
Image caption, The brothers and their wives came together briefly for a walkabout in Windsor last year following Queen Elizabeth II's death

Harry's deep dislike of the media, in particular Britain's best-selling newspapers, is well chronicled. But this allegation is something different.
If you are a member of the Royal Family the deal is you suck up the criticism and let the palace communications people deal with the flak. You don't speak out, you don't tell your side of the story.
But Harry claims the very people he was told to rely on to defend him and Meghan were actually feeding negative stories about them to the media.
There was, in his eyes, no way for the truth to be told while he remained within the palace machinery. His and Meghan's side of the story, he says, never got told.
And worse, behind their backs, he says palace staff - the people paid by the taxpayer to speak for them - were in fact undermining them.
If this were an allegation made against a government department, a political party, a business or a football team in the public eye, a response would be expected.
The lack of any response or denial would be taken by many as an admission that the allegation was true.
So is it true that the taxpayer-funded office of William and Catherine briefed against Harry and his wife?
    No comment, says the palace.
I would not put it past the staff of the Royal Household.

I do begin to think that he is channeling his mother.

Edward and Wallis were respectable remittance people; they lived on their remittances and stayed quiet, at least after 1940, when the facts of life were made plain to them.

These two could do the same, but choose not to.

I think there is something to be said for the traditional Turkish approach (also used in China) in which the heir disposed of the spares when he takes over.

........then there is Prince Andrew and the sexual assault charge by Virginia Giuffre.
........then there is the press pack and relentless social media attack of Harry and Mehgan and barely a ripple of response compared to Andrews crime of underage sexual abuse, although I notice an article mentioning the King has given Andrew a shove out of the palace: Prince Andrew removed from Buckingham Palace by King Charles | Marca

Seems to me Harry and Mehgan are responding publicly to a systematic pattern of abuse in a public endevour to break the cycle of abuse. I have seen it time and again any one who dares to do the same is vilified.

I have absolutely no trouble ignoring them. Checking out at the grocery store, sometimes I'll see their photos on the cover of one trashy magazine or another, but that's my only contact.

Honestly, I wish them well; I hope they have happy lives and a find a way to do some good. Not my problem one way or another, though.

I have had the impression for some time that this man has been seriously damaged by life.
I'm thinking here of a badly processed death of his mother, the period after that and perhaps also during his role as an active serving soldier.
I don't think his approach is elegant at this moment, but for the time being I'll give him the benefit of the doubt

Well, Teddy Eddy has kept his head well down, and Air miles Andy has taken himself out of the frame.
Harry and Wills are still the heir and spare.

Wills certainly is the heir, then it moves on to George, which makes the Montecito resident surplus to requirements and very much at a loose end.The same situation prevailed before he married, but then he did a few useful jobs, such as his Invictus games. What changed?

I suppose the rate of descent into oblivion will be determined by how many times the pair of them can play the victim card with the increasingly tired stories and how rapidly the commissioning editors get weary of hearing the same old tale. Its already happened to me.

On a point of information, at the time of the alleged copulation, Ms Guiffre was above the age of consent in England, and had consented. This is not disputed. There was no crime, which is why the Police have shown no interest, but you may prefer a conspiracy theory. Before doing so you may like to reflect that the Princess Royal has been up before the beaks twice, for exceeding the speed limit and for failing to keep a dog under control, and was found guilty each time.

I agree, you cannot keep on writing an autobiography.

What is your take on the OP ED from the Beeb about the staff running a smear campaign?

Not sure which side to believe.I can't help thinking that the Beeb have a royal correspondent and for them, airtime equates to relevance.

On a different note, the dozy pillock has included claims about what he achieved in Afghanistan in the book what he wrote-or somebody did on his behalf-which has been commented on elsewhere as painting a target on himself. There are some amusing cartoons in the style of the Bayeux tapestry in circulation and I hope he stumbles upon them.

When ever I see them I just wonder what possessed them to name a child Archibald. With a father and an uncle with male pattern baldness, they seem to be stacking the deck in favor of nickname hell for the poor kid.

PS: my step-grandfather, Archibald, likewise had a headful of hair and his nickname, of course, was Baldy.

The pair have boxed themselves into a corner.

Markle now faces the prospect of replicating Simpson; spending the rest of her life keeping a not very bright, easily bored man happy all day every day. Simpson actually did this, for the rest of her life.

I think Markle will get bored.

Mrs Simpson did go the distance but not without bemoaning her situation, saying: 'Do you really know just how hard it is to have to keep up a famous love affair for your whole life?'

When the stories are no longer of interest, she will cash in and move on.
