So yesterday we took a photo field trip to the Orange County Museum of Art in Costa Mesa. Being a hard core NY'er having grown up with the Frick, Guggenheim, MOMA, Witney, Met. my bar for museums is pretty high. This little county museum was stunning
It was designed by The Architect: Thom Mayne & Morphosis Pritzker Prize-winning architect Thom Mayne is the founder of the influential studio Morphosis and co-founder of the prestigious Southern California Institute of Architecture. For more than 40 years, Morphosis has practiced at the intersection of architecture, urbanism, and design.

Shades of Lake Wobegon!
The car is placed onto the ice as part of a Beaver Dam, WI police charity raffle for people to guess when the car would fall into the lake.
( Left side of the photo, the retrieval chain can be seen)

I guess the ice is out, eh?
Not cars, but there are a number of lakes around here that have similar raffles. The one @ Joe's Pond in central VT has been doing a contest for over 50 years.

Brrr (puts on sweatshirt.)
Jimmy nice composition it's a little soft because of the lack of light and shutter speed ( I have that problem too )
To me screams moody black & white.

Yep, it was handheld quite a while after sunset. I had a tripod in the truck that I didn't use. Image stabilization will only go so far. It took quite a bit of tweaking in GIMP to get that far. JPG from camera had foreground almost totally dark even with truck headlights on crossing.
I hear ya Jimmy, I keep an expandable tripod in my camera sling bag. I've yet to use it but it's there should low light or low shutter speed. I probably should grab it at some time

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

Hugh - this is the view from the inn we stay at in Lauterbrunnen. Its an older place but reasonable with a great breakfast and location. The much more popular and touristy Grindelwald is on the other side of the ridge. You should visit but I wouldn't stay there. Can't remember the name off the top of my head but can get it if interested.

Thanks Gary! I'll keep that on my notebook. Your photo really captures what I'd envisioned as the essential character of the North Face from reading the old climbing books on it. A truly humbling place for climbers!
