Crikey the grass grows pretty fast here in Mangawhai.
Sales of the swamp were a bit slow so a bit of photoshop to assist.

Strike impression on one of our house windows. Pretty sure it was a Eurasian Collared-Dove.

I collected an imprint like that of a sulphur crested cockatoo- on the black fairing of a BMW motor sickle, at speed

I'm fascinated with the detail of that imprint and what it's made of -- bird oils, dust, and dander? The smashed beak?

There are good window hits and great window hits. That is a dandy.
Been there for a few. If their neck isn't broken, I have messaged back to flight.

It's a powdery coating on the feathers. Doves have more than just about anything else. Another funny thing about doves- when you try to catch one in your hands the feathers fall out really easily. The goshawks eat a few of my doves, and in probably half the hits, a bunch of feathers come out and the dove escapes.

Presuming that's one of these? Back in Oz, where they are feral - and where they displaced the native Crested Pigeons - I'd shot 1,000+ of those on the back deck, where I'd leave food for the natives. I used to throw the carcases down the bush - and the local goannas would clean them up.

This captive one was one of several hanging from the ceiling of a Warung in Sumatra - presumably on the menu

Bonus pic from the Warung - with the mid-western American farm girl, from Kansas if I'm not mistaken, who I was introducing to some new experiences - such as riding on a motorcycle, making friends in a Warung, etc. We're still in touch, from time to time

Nice one. Quite by coincidence, I had this one open from last night, browsing through some images of Lake Toba - a favourite spot of mine. The creation of this lake, 74,000 years ago, reduced the human population to about 10,000 people worldwide.
