    Default George Santos

So, he now admits that he lied on his resume to get elected.

The Democrats want the win taken from him because of it.

My question is: How come the Democrats didn't call him on it during the election? I'm sorry, but the Democrats are not that clever or that well organized. They didn't lay a trap for him. They just didn't catch it and I wonder why?

Actually, from a posting I saw on someplace like, but not, Rachel, his opponent's committee spent all the money they had trying to make sure the voters got the info, but the state was in such a mess that they didn't get anywhere the kind of money they needed to buy effective advertising. Well, we do know that New York was in tumult for this election. In fact I've seen news that Congressional democrats credit New York with losing the majority in the house because it was so disorganized.

I wish I could send a link to where I see these things, but I could spend my entire life saving links in case I need them some day...

He says it doesn't matter he "embellished" his resume, including that he was married to a woman, ( while claiming to be the first elected homosexual ) That he graduated Baruch or any college, or that he owned properties, when he wads evicted multiple times for non payment, he Claimed he worked for City Group or Goldman Sacks. He USED the Pulse Nightclub shooting saying that he lost co-workers that day, he did not know anyone involved. How in the word can he be sworn into office. If I took a job and they found half of these lies I would be escorted out of the building by security.

If I recall, and I may not, New York state was redistricting to a map favorable to the 'D's, then a judge tossed out that map, and brought in a map which was favorable to the 'R's . In the following turmoil, Santos was elected - I could be / often am misinterpreting the 'facts on the ground'

interesting what a low standard/accountability we hold our elected representatives. You wouldn't believe the hurdles I have to clear, in order to be licensed, in order to remain licensed. And they do an extensive background check on each and every physician. So.... it can be done.

He says he never claimed he is Jewish. He told the New York Post that he is “clearly Catholic” and that his grandmother told stories about being Jewish before converting to Catholicism.

“I never claimed to be Jewish,” Santos said. “I am Catholic. Because I learned my maternal family had a Jewish background I said I was ‘Jew-ish.’”

The Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC) on Tuesday said Rep.-elect George Santos (R-N.Y.) “deceived” the organization and “misrepresented” his Jewish heritage, adding the incoming lawmaker is no longer welcome at its events.

He should not “have the win taken away”. That’s MAGA talk.

Perhaps he will work hard for his constituents for two years, hoping they’ll forgive him.

Or maybe he won’t, or they won’t.

I don’t think he has a shiny future ahead.

I'm considering writing a script for a TV show. Maybe Hulu or Netflix would be interested.

    Here's the premise --

A group of elderly liberals/progressives, sick of the perverse results from the Acton Dictum... and the bad-faith advantage taking opened up by our economic system and our flawed Constitution... decide to devote their retirement spare time to researching and documenting the various sorts of perfidy... and the failings of society/government to rein in the crooks, cowboys, greedheads, traitors, and con-men.

The idea, initially, is to publish the worst examples... as many as they can accrue funding for. And keep hammering on those folks... until they are discredited. Push politicians out of office, and public figures into disrepute. And serve as a warning for similar cynical or troglodytic behaviors.

But, as they explore funding, the first plot twist occurs. One ultra-rich potential donor suggest to them that there might be a better, and more complete, use for that research. He envisions following thru on their research: document; prioritize; publish; then take it one step further. A hit squad (anyone remember The Unit?). Another donor meanwhile, also wants to take a further step. Guerilla, non-violent, action. Think of the Yippie Party, but more consequential. Think Roger Stone, but competent and civic-minded. In the end, they discover they have enough funding to do both.

Santos would likely be eligible for that fictional list. Not sure how high he'd be, however.

Skip how do you feel about his exploiting and lying about the Pulse nightclub massacre for his perverse political gain ? For me that was a bit over the line and should prevent him from holding any political office. Also how many MAGA Gay republicans are there ?

Sadly, I know quite a few! I wish I was joking.

There is a long list of things that SHOULD prevent him from holding office. Unfortunately, he is likely to become the next MTG darling of the GOP. <BARF!>

While a couple of incoming GOP house members are calling for an investigation, Kevin McCarthy is staying silent, knowing that he needs this little puke's vote to become speaker.

He misrepresented himself in order to gain a material benefit. That's not just an oopsie, and it's not just a case of 'oh, well they all lie.' It's outright fraud. Criminal. He had a campaign with paid staff and fundraising to support his fraud, including paying for advertising and other promotion in pursuit of his fraud. That's wire fraud and conspiracy to commit fraud. I think he should be prosecuted.

Now it appears that the funding of Santos’ campaign was by Russian Oligarchs. Intrater and Vekselberg appear to be the connection.

Well, as he was not a duly elected member yet, at least the "speech and debate clause" won't apply. If he incorporated any of these lies onto the forms necessary to become an official candidate in New York, he may be indictable for fraud.

I think it more likely though that if he's indicted for anything, it may be for campaign finance issues. It seems that somehow he magically transformed from a guy who was in substantial debt and 3 months behind on rent while a call center employee to a person able to lend his own campaign over $700k, within a year or so. The source of the funding turnaround appears to be $1M "consulting contracts" with a newly formed company which got its money from a Russian oligarch linked source.

    Yeah, surprising as hell, eh?

Other reports today on Twitter of interviews in which Santos talks energetically about his several trips to Russia in recent years. Clearly he's gonna fit right in with the newly dominant faction in the house GOP caucus
