I’m slow on the uptake, but I just realized that a Warnock victory would probably dilute Manchin’s power to disrupt.

ITS CHAOS, BE KIND
Right now, with a 50-50 Senate, each Senate committee has an equal number of Dems and Repubs on them making it harder to approve federal judgeships and other things. Schumer has to jump through a few other procedural hoops to get that done.
With a 51-49 Senate, Dems can put another Dem on the committees and more easily pass their agenda.

Some Dems want to keep the filibuster. Many do not.
Like the Electoral College, it's a vestigial remnant of kowtowing to slavery interests.

Next election, vote against EVERY Republican, for EVERY office, at EVERY level. Be patriotic, save the country.
From what I've seen of him, "Hushel" would be disruptive of friend and foe, alike.
It could be interesting to see the Regressives fight over who was going to be his minder to make sure he voted the "right" way.

For the life of me I cannot understand how this could even be a contest. Yet here we are.

I'm afraid to go to sleep for fear of a sudden rock in the channel.
There was a quick item on the WaPo today talking with some Georgia voters. None of the Walker voters were voting for him. They were all voting for the party.
And they were all white.

Sure is close
Georgia has to be one f'd up state if it votes in an ex-football player who barely got out of high school to one of the highest elected offices in our country.
We won't know until morning, if then, who won.

We lived in Georgia for twenty years. County sheriffs had a lot of influence, especially the smaller counties (159 of them, each sized by tradition so it 'wasn't more than a day's ride to the county seat'.)

With about 90% of the votes counted, and the bulk of the remaining to come from Dem strongholds, the race is called for Warnock.
But it's still very tight.
Which leaves me standing with those who are dumbfounded that ANYONE could take Walker seriously as a candidate.

It has nothing to do with Walker and nothing to do with Democratic campaigning. There are a lot of voters out there that will vote for whatever candidate the Republican party puts up and they will smile doing it. They could run a paper clip and the vote would be close.
And Walker isn't much different from a paper clip.

There were other Republicans in the primary that likely could have done better than Walker, but Walker won the primary because of Trump's endorsement.

Republicans have chosen a sugar-rush, easy-peasy, lazy approach. Lord help us if they'd dumped tRump in 2020 and pivoted to addressing real issues. Even if they were wrong, they'd have come across as sane enough that this midterm would have looked far more like a typical midterm --

The question looms: Given that Trump endorsed candidates haven't done all that well, will republicans in office be doing Trump's bidding, or, perhaps, think in terms of the what's best for the country?

Neither. They'll be acting in what they discern to be their own interest, or that of their funders. Which for the time being may be Trump, but in the longer term will be merely Trumpist.

I'm sticking with 'Georgia Sucks'.
Only by the thinnest of margins did they miss sending to THE U.S. SENATE... a candidate so bad that he will be remembered in history for being horrifically, egregiously, monumentally incompetent and ill-suited.
“He should have never run for this seat,” said a person close to the campaign. His campaign loss, the person said, is largely because “Herschel had a ton of baggage he was not transparent about, and we were constantly behind the eight ball.”
