it has an inch of water ice as radiation shield. The tent covered space on the back is a “suit port” where astronauts can crawl into the suits from the inside where the suits are ported to the cabin. I see no mention of rtg so it’s relying on a central charging station. Sounds like a universal chassis.

It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. Maybe it’s like a slide in bed camper where they can connect it to the double wide home base and the chassis goes off to be fitted out for hauling materials or back hoe excavator attachments?
Just think of the off road options. Battery power pack trailer w stacks of solar panels.

As long as we are talking about Mars, I recommend watching "Goodnight Oppy". Well done film following the development and lifecycle of the Opportunity and Spirit rovers NASA sent up there. Planned 90 day mission that for Opportunity stretched into 15 years. It is on Prime right now.
