    Default Greetings from isla

On another thread I noted we hadn’t heard from isla in a while. I PM’ed him and he’s fine, except for some eye surgery planned for December 7th, pending which he can’t see the screen well enough to partake in the Bilge.

He sends greetings to the crew for a Happy Christmas and New Year. If he hasn’t returned by Hogmanay, I propose that we raise a glass to him and any other absent friends.

I reckon if he hasn't turned up by then we should all pack a bag and just lob on his doorstep. Lets find out what sort of a host he is

Hi all! Sincere thanks to Skip for emailing to check on me and apologies to Cris for missing his last PM.
The eye surgery seems to have worked out OK but - Shakespeare was right when he wrote "When sorrows come they come not single spies but in battalions".
OK exaggeration! Not battalions, just one additional problem.
Just after Hogmanay I started having serious breathing issues - no I didn't drink lots of whisky, just a couple of drams, and I toasted you all as promised. Turned out I had a serious lung infection (I have a long history of lung problems). So I have spent all of January pretty much chained to my bed. This means I had to cancel my 19th Jan. post-surgery optician's appointment, so no new prescription glasses yet, and I still find it hard to read text on-screen. Herself is typing this to my dictation.
Anyhow, thanks again for all the kind words. I miss you all and will be back ASAP.
