I covered a similar situation in Kitsap County 25 years ago. They got the guy out, but he died in a separate plane accident a few years later.

Cut the power and you still have a challenge, although a much simpler one.

Same thing west of the Boeing Field runway. Pilot claimed he was blown sideways by a jumbo jet. One wheel of his taildragger caught s powerline. SFD lashed the wheel to the powerline, then got him out into a cherry picker. A crane then lifted the plane.
The pilot died in another accident a couple of years later.

Grandfather did something like that in WWI with some hard to see wires over a river. He was able to get out of sitting up side down in the cockpit and carefully stretched out on the underside (now top) of the linen covered wing. Eventually a Lyle gun got a line to him.

The video here makes it look like the plane is hanging from the tower and not the power lines.

^ It's not the 150 foot fall that would hurt, Bruce - it would be the sudden stop at the end ! ! It concerns me that the story indicates the pilot is hanging out of the airplane - That would be a loooong first step down.

A man jumps from the thirty-fifth floor and as he passes the second floor he is heard to say, "So far, so good!"

My cousin, the one with MN now, flew back to his home strip to find the single power line had been rerouted whilst he was away, from parallel to the field to across one end. Private contractor looking to save a few holes and a few poles.
    He saw it in time.

it took the power company six hours to make sure there was no residual power in the affected tower and wires before the fire dept could even begin the rescue attempt

Over the years, a couple of pt's offered to 'take me up' in their small planes. I declined after learning both had previously 'had incidents'.

Love flying in a small plane - but careful who you go up with.
There's a lot of things they didn't tell me when I signed on with this outfit....

The pilot, Mr Merkle, also flew into a pine forest 30 years ago.

So maybe it’s like motorcycle riding. But more expensive.
