    Default Unusual hobbies

Out of post holiday boredom this morning, I found this list of unusual hobbies. A couple of them seem maybe marginally legal or ethical, and some seem more normal. I need a new hobby but Extreme Ironing or Mooing probably aren’t going to interest me. Whaddya got?

I also have engaged in several of those activities.

But the one that caught my eye was Witchcraft. I think exploring in that direction would be fascinating. A new approach to science, sorta. And it fits in with my spirituality. I'm not churchy at all, but identify with (if anything) the Druids.

A favorite comedian of mine, Bill Burr, always tries to stay in hotel rooms that have a view of an airport. His “hobby” is listening to ATC, watching with binoculars, and using a flight ID app.

how odd arguing gun control on esoteric forum dedicated ostensibly to the design, building, and repair of woodenboats?

Does milling the wood from an apple tree into plank and framing timber for a 1/16th (3/4" to the foot) model of an open boat count?
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

I’m thinking about delving into 3D printing. I already do a lot of 3D computer modeling, but I’ve always thought who needs a Buddha statue or a little plastic toy boat. But I’m starting to see more real uses for it like vac hose/tool adapters, or specialized connectors or hinges, etc. But the biggest problem is space. Living in a small house in the city has its disadvantages. Now if I could just throw out her wall of cookbooks…

3d printing ... I build model boats (how unusual is that?) but I think at this stage I'd sooner export the odd 3d files for 3rd party printing.

I have a bunch of the usual hobbies. On the more unusual side I suppose would be my flintknapping- I make arrowheads, spear points and blades. I also make corn dollies from wheat straw- only started a year ago and quickly ran out of straw but I've grown plenty this year. And I collect skulls- probably have close to a hundred. I suppose that's a bit unusual. One of my grand daughters wants to do the same. I love that kid JayInOz

To be fair, the portraits on our folding money are of dead people.
However, every one of them was a person of considerable merit.

I believe we also don't put living person's on our stamps.

Elevating someone to that status during their lifetime imparts too much unearned power.
