Although it was before the days of YouTube, one nasty moment on the Manx circuit was a tight turn just after a hump back bridge. The co-driver's note were a tad inadequate, so the instruction tight left after bridge caused the driver to set the car up for the turn before they lost contact with the tarmac as they crested the hump.It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

Re: Mull it over nsfw
Isle of Man, Summer 1967.
My Dad took a car over on the ferry and, one warm, bright day, took me (aged 4-and-a-half) and my bro', both sitting on the backseat (no seat belts back then) around the TT circuit.
No speed limits outside the villages, of course. I recall giggling as I slid about (and, indeed, above) the seat while he drove like a loon at 80-100 mph.

I have long suspected that rally drivers self select on the basis of no fear and a loose connection to normal sanity. The spectators are even worse and can be seen standing inches away from the cars hurtling by.I believe I have related the tale here a good while ago that a now deceased friend told me;he knew a sports event cameraman who had been covering a rally and learned that it was a badge of honour to touch the cars as they passed. At the time check following the stage a co-driver got out of his car to present his documents for stamping and when he opened the door-a finger fell out.Comment
