There's an ad running with a '57 Chevy station wagon in it. It's a two door wagon. I don't remember any of those.

Early Nomads were 2-door. I think they went to 4 door (optional?) some time in the '60s.
they made a 150 and 210 two door wagon called the handyman wagon
they made a 'bel aire ' trim and power level two door wagon
and they made a two door 'panel wagon' version
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.
Not uncommon configuration.

I like two door wagons, a sedan delivery with windows and a tailgate.
(The Chevy '58 Nomad was 4 doors, (I had one) the two door Nomads were a short run of three years. Don't rule put Pontiac's Safari wagon, they were available with the famous Pontiac tri-power!)

In the '60's when I should have been in High school I had a girlfriend with a '49 Chevy sedan delivery... a home away from home that.

I had one like this, An Australian Falcon panel van .

It had a 302 Cleveland smog motor and 4 speed. Not very inspiring performance.
I see there were quite a few. I just don't recall them. Every wagon I ever had or ever rode in had four doors.
Maybe I didn't notice. I've seen this tv ad many times and just noticed.

I saw that ad with the Chevy Nomad last night for the first time. It reminded me that from 1967-73 the Chevy Suburban was a three door (one on the driver's side, two on the passengers').

I remember riding to grammar school1950-ford-super-deluxe-2-door-woody-station-wagon-3.jpg in my dad's Ford. He saved us from a head on accident. A driver getting off of the freeway shot into our lane and my dad drove the car up on the sidewalk..the driver side of our "woody" was flattened but we were ok. PTSD? HA!!
My sister had a VW Fox:

In 1978 I got a Toyota Corolla 2 door wagon.
It had been a Rural Delivery vehicle so was registered as a van.
That was cheaper to register and insure so I kept it that way.
Loved that van....loaded to the ceiling with gear going to Ski camps.
I also slept in the back alot while on Skiing or fishing trips.
I was devastated when it was written off after being hit by someone who t-boned me after going through a red light.
I once thought I was wrong, but I was wrong, I wasn't wrong.
1st car my parents had after I was born...this in red

We had a '60 Chevy wagon like in #2 but a bilious blue. When I was in college I found good use for all that space.
My gf in high school had a ‘68 vw squareback.
I had one of these (59 GMC). Mattress in the back when it wasn't hauling stuff of course...
This isn't mine - just an internet pic. I ran plain 7.50-16 tires on black steel rims. Mine had less chrome too.

Not a two-door, this was the model station wagon I got to learn to drive in. Sixty-four Plymouth Belvedere II.
I got to learn how to tune the three-eighteen V-eight, and rebuild the two-barrel carburetor, and I got to learn about freeze-plugs and what to do with them when they develop holes. And I got to learn about 'passing gear,' and how to slide the beast around corners in wet weather. And I got to appreciate the value of heavy breathing with exercise in the rear after hours in my girlfriend's driveway as it fogged the glass to give us a bit of privacy after dark. Pretty sure my mom never knew about the exercise in the back but she apparently got plenty of notice from our neighbors about my lead foot driving on our suburban streets.
I rebuilt one of these a few years back
A most reliable well behaved car.
There's a reason that Mopar was the preferred taxi cab. Maintenance is dead simple, you could slide under those with a handful of wrenches and a clutch disc and emerge about an hour later with the thing back on the road with a new clutch...

Now this gets my ICE juices going, probably ought to be over in the "restomods" thread too. Modern suspension, put a nice little bio-diesel engine in there mated to 4x4 running gear...
I need to go put the new gas tank and fuel lines in my Vanagon today to remind myself why I swore off doing another big car project.
