Very true. The great advantage and disadvantage of the internet is that barriers to entry are so low, and the fringes are easy to find. Fifty or sixty years ago, you'd have to look long and hard to uncover the equivalent of these guys, and if they published anything it would be a ten-page mimeographed newsletter, mailed out to a couple of hundred subscribers. Now a couple of hours of research with a laptop, you know all about the slimy things crawling in the foetid excrement under the rock.
And still, the average mainstream is a LOT more tolerant than it was then.

The racist Right has been the home of violent cowards throughout human history but a recent US example is Rep Preston Brooks' caning Sen Charles Sumner. Let's not pretend that the racist right's craven behavior and support of violence is something new.
