Is there still a stigma attached to owning a Prius?

ITS CHAOS, BE KIND
My wife started with a hybrid and now has the PHEV version. It's the perfect car for her, although I'm more of a crossover/suv type.
There is no rational, logical, or physical description of how free will could exist. It therefore makes no sense to praise or condemn anyone on the grounds they are a free willed self that made one choice but could have chosen something else. There is no evidence that such a situation is possible in our Universe. Demonstrate otherwise and I will be thrilled.
Saw it yesterday and everyone I was with said hey that probably the best looking Prius ever the back 3/4 and rear are so much better.
On the other side the new Cadillac Lyric EV that looks so good in photos ( aside from the rear end ) Looks ghastly, way to big, poorly proportioned and just fugly in real life. I was disappointed. Hey but the Dodge charger EV concept car was super cool looking.

I was going to watch a police chase on youtube a couple of nights ago and lost the link. I was interested because the police pursuit car was a Tesla. JayInOz

Some very dear, old friends bought one of the original Prius models (don't remember the year) and still have it with not a single problem - it has the original batteries. They like it so much, that now, their second car is the latest model Prius!
I didn't realise there was a new one coming. It's not currently listed n the Toyota NZ site, which I think means they've run out of the old model and the new one isn't available yet.
If I was forced to change my car in the next couple of years then I'd likely replace it with a used Prius C (sold almost exclusively here as JDM import Aqua models here) - just a bit bigger than my current run-around, a bit more economical but likely less usable interior space.
Also - owning one of these in NZ indicates that there's a 66% chance you're an Uber driver, 75% plus for the full-sized Prius model.

The mileage is appealing, but losing the funky look of the old model will make the new one tough to find in a parking lot.
We have a '17 Prius and love it...except for the "Sign of Jaffar" zig-zag taillights, but that's just my opinion. And I gotta admit it's a lot easier to get in and out of than my MGB.
the new prius has 100 more hp than the current model
is available with awd
and gets four more miles to the gallon up from 56mpg to 60mpg

Son-in-law came home with old newspapers from the ‘50’s that were insulation. One article described fusion powered tractors by now.

My wifes CRV is the only car we've ever owned that had any sort of screenTwo things I don't like about it- it's gets dusty and I forget and wipe it while driving- it's a touch screen so I screw up the display and don't know how to fix it. Second, it acts like a big mirror and I hate reflected light in my eyes when I'm driving.
Car & Driver recently did an article waxing ecstatic about the newest Prius. While they lasted really well (a friend sold hers with over 200K miles & the battery capacity was still almost 80%), the original Prius model had dangerously poor rear vision.

Without friends none of this is possible.
That's the first pic I've seen of the new prius design painted silver.
Tragic.
It looks spectacular in the orange or the soft blue or the gold I've seen in media photos but you just know that 70% of the ones on the road are going to be dumbass silver.

Everything below that diagonal crease over the rear wheel should be flat black.
Not bad at all.
Fortunately they kept the guy who's been doing most of the Toyota front ends lately away from it, the one who watched WAY too many Transformers cartoons as a kid.

How long must I wait for the single cab pick up version? For light weight stuff..plywood, etc.
Had a Hyundai Ionic that had fuel economy like that as a rental in the UK this Summer which was a treat.
That version isn't available anymore as a new vehicle, but that Toyota looks like it would fit the bill.

They did a great job on the styling front.I wonder how much the appearance owes to glass of sufficient clarity to allow such low angles and good visibility. It wasn't that long ago that about 28 degrees was as shallow as was practical.
Old Prius got really ugly. Nice job on the re-design.
