Humo! What a cutie!
Zina was a wild marina cat in Savannah that walked down the dock and jumped on my son’s boat to share his tuna sandwich. Little did she know he’d move back to Maine and end up leaving her with us.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.
Skipper died three years ago and he is missed as a sibling who was always there to lighten my spirits. He was the image of and named after a mascot on my Korean War destroyer. Being unable to care for another, we are limited to memory and pictures.
GrayC Grayfur. Unfortunately she got sick last spring and died.

Cleo, miss her a lot. One half clown, the other half sweetheart. She used to enter the living room airborne over a houseplant rather than simply walking past it. Shown here with centerboard and rudder extended.

It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

Gentle and loves my wife.

I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.
Skiing is the next best thing to having wings.
I recently posted about my sister having 12 dogs at her house. She tested positive for Covid a few days ago, but one of the 7 fosters was adopted yesterday anyway.

Camping kitty.. doing her thing somewhere on the Mogollon Rim, circa years ago.. found her as a tiny ball of fur in a dumpster on the way to a job site decades ago now.. Travelled more than most people, she got around. Gone now.. still missed almost 10 years later.

Coyote finally got our last chicken about a week ago so we are now officially "empty nesters".
I had two cats for a very long time
Chip, he was very dog-like for a cat. When arriving home from work he would greet me on the stairs. He made it to 13
At the same time there was Alice, she made it to 18 and is probably 15 in this picture. I don't have many pictures of her because, well, have you ever tried taking a picture of a black cat?

I'm the one in the pink shirt.
Dogs left to right: Dixie, Flora, Jeb, Scarlett. Flora was the last of the pack, and passed away a month ago. After 24 years with dogs, I miss them all terribly.
Mickey the cat helped with lofting boat plans. I don't know how to get him right side up.

Good-looking collie. Our former dog, Ruby, was half collie and half keeshond.
She loved the water and I put a dog deck on all our boats. This one was taken on the North Platte.
She also loved to sail in the wee skiff.

Our good friend Miss Munk having a little snack. We’ve had a bunch of them who’ve made friends and stop for a scratch behind the ears and some sunflowers or fruit.

Few things as charming as a whistle pig. They are so social and vocal. I miss ours. Super fun to put them in a chicken-type tractor and let them roam in the yard.
I miss the excitement they showed when I brought them carrot tops, and the adorable way the chomp veggies.
Nessie does the same thing!

I had cats in the house growing up. Was more of a predator than prey kinda guy. Had a cat of my own when I moved out - he was very, very smart. The tales we could tell about him. When Sqwrl Gurl came back from being an au pair in Germany, she’d spent time with the family at a retreat on the northern coast where they had Guinea pigs - she was quite taken and adopted these two when she got home. Frankly, I have been surprised at how much unique personality they have and what good company they can be. You’re right - they love a roam outside to gnaw on the clover and grass in the lawn.

My last two dogs.
Sam checking results of remains of hurricane Opel. The morning after a very scary night of listening to trees falling around us and wondering if one was going to come through the roof.

Beau - 125+ pounds of rescue dog. Best dog ever. An assertive, protective, but not aggressive. Stepped between Foster charge and a social worker and quietly pushed her away.

Tucker - 85 pounds of rescue dog. We went on to become a therapy team. I've never had such a bond, even with Beau. Lost him in the later prime of life to a failed disc in his spine.

Moosilauke, AKA 'Moose' - current attempt as a stand in for Tucker. Has the hair, the weight (95 pounds) and a rescue but will never match up to Tucker.
