The lack of suspension travel is killing me,
In the US this perverted idea of “blood and soil” over “constitutional principles” is the most radical and anti-democratic and anti-Conservative idea I have heard in my lifetime.

Instead of duning with your Porsche, just get a junker Crown Vic
ITS CHAOS, BE KIND

I saw the Paris-Dakar Porsches during the Dakar prologue once.
They were very impressive.

for kicks and giggles how about an offroad Honda Fit?
Is there going to be an E-Carrera?
yeah baby, but not too much hp, I don’t like to go fast. 150hp is plenty.
pitiful

Dubai plates on three of the four photos in post #1.
Some of the locals here do enjoy pushing the limits with their cars. It's good to see, the desert is a great playground.
It is caveat emptor though when buying a second hand car in Dubai!
I'm told that Porsche are pretty good at extending their dealer warranties, it keeps their punters loyal.
Damn Paul - I love that thing.

I was thinking a lifted and rally ready 2008 Cayenne might do nicely for work and expeditions. Nearly the same price as a Honda Fit prepped.

When I see a Cayenne I think, 'you lusted after one, you saved your money, decided it was time to treat yourself and pull the trigger, you went to the Porsche dealer—and you came home with an SUV. Pathetic.'
Honda is likely more reliable.....
There's a lot of things they didn't tell me when I signed on with this outfit....
Yeah. When I see someone pull up in a Honda, I think, 'hey is that my Wife, home already?'
The real issue is carrying capacity. My second operator's LR3 was packed to the gills.

Wait Ted, so you want an awd offroad suv to mount a 200# camera boom?
exactly. i have big plans.![]()
I also want to explore the west making possible those hard to get to places. An adjustable tall boom on an adventure AWD SUV could deliver some spectacular photos and HD video.

How about that Ford Maverick pickup w 2liter turbo? Awd, not tall, kinda long, decent mpg on the freeway, good load capacity, not expensive. With roofrack you coukd have lots of space up top.
Somewhere in the crowd there was a very cold dutchpp watching the Porsches that glided on the very icy track.
We drove especially to Paris to watch them.

I would love a truck except that there is a security issue using the truck bed. It would require a locking topper with alarm to secure the equipment. There has been a rash of theft and robbery of camera cars recently here. I recently had unsavory folks follow me home after they watch me pack up from their parked car. A couple of months ago a location scout/good friend witnessed an expensive Arri digital camera (second camera) snatched right off the set when they were filming off Alamos Square in the city. They snatched the unit on the tripod, stuffed it into the backseat of a Camry dragging the legs down Hayes street until the legs broke off.

that poor tripod

This would work as a fun car. Maybe fit a boom on top...
