TV alternatives to watching the mind-numbing election coverage

Spouse and I will be watching “Enola Holmes 2” on Netflix.

Later, I’ll be watching season 4 of ‘Bosch’, an Amazon Prime crime series… very intense, but you need to watch it from season 1 on, because there are lingering themes that transcend the seasons.

Anyone else have suggestions?

We watched Bosch, and like it, and waiting for the new season to 'drop.' She doesn't like having to wait a week for the next episode, and would rather watch a new one every evening. She finds TV series for us to watch. Mostly it's Her older brother recommending them. Contemporary crime fiction usually.

Right now, a good one is Alaska Daily. A news reporter from the big city with a spot on her record for getting a scoop that turned out to be not true, relegated to a small town newspaper in Alaska, aggressive and making waves, showing the locals how it's done. That's good. The other one we're currently watching is more typical, and I actually hate it, but I can't say so without getting an argument started, is Cardinal, about a veteran homocide detective, set in eastern Canada. What I don't like about it is that the current villains are into some gruesome satanic ritual butchery stuff and there are scenes with body parts and associated gore. Also, and we have a new TV, so that's not the problem, but the sound quality of this particular series is not good. The background music wells up loud and then the dialogue is much softer and it's like they mumble all the time. Eh. Constantly turning the volume down due at the dramatic musical interludes and turning it back up to follow the dialogue.

It seems that all the series we get are about serial rapists and serial murderers and really the same old plots. One that sort of fits, for being gruesome and a bit hard to watch, but is well made, is The Prisoner. The first season stars Steve Carell as a shrink who gets taken prisoner by a serial killer. It's not a spoiler to reveal that much. It comes out in the first ten minutes. It's well done and gripping.

But we're going to sit glued to the election coverage anyway, I think.

We just finished watching Karen Pirie on Britbox. A procedural cop show, 3 episodes - about 2 hours each. We liked it.

Fair amount of sex, violence, blood, and gore. Probably give kids nightmares.

Been watching "Justified" on Amazon Prime. Amazingly good writers.

Saw that "Manifest" was popular on Netflix so I tried a few episodes last night, finally bailed. Seemed like someone came up with this simplistic premise that allowed for a lot of different obvious soap opera plots, while we are suppose to wonder whodunit. I've also been watching a few of the old "Fugitive" series with David Jansen. The old plots were better.

We've been watching 'The Outsider' based on a Stephen King novel. I came upstairs to get some remote work done from home before getting back to the grind tomorrow. I will have to peek in on the election coverage though, even if painfully slow motion.

We attempted "The Lost City" - Sandra Bullock, Brad Pitt, Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter). Lasted 30 minutes (about 29 more than we shoulda) & gave up. Why would such talented people waste everyone's time on such junk?

We're about two episodes into Dope Sick. Great cast. Eight episode mini-series, dramatization about the Sackler family and Purdue Pharma's creation of the drug oxycontin and the devastation it did to the country. Michael Keaton plays a small town GP in Appalachia. Directed by Barry Levinson. The true story is stunning.

No, it kind of reminds me of Napoleon Dynamite, except this takes place in Ireland. Good acting.

I was kind of disappointed in Enola 2. I thought Enola 1 was delightful.

I started 'inside man'. Seems fascinating.

One program I really like is called 'Karppi' in its native Finland, but 'Deadwind' on netflix. I was very surprised at the graphic nature of the depictions of what happened to the murder victims on this newest season. I wasn't used to that from European programs.

I tend to watch a lot of the Scandinavian programs on netflix. Dark and brooding. Fits my mood most of the time.

Bosch is really good. There is also a sequel series that picks up where Bosch leaves off. I think it is called Bosch Legacy IIRC. So far this one has been good too. So far only one season for the sequel.

We just signed up with the directv. So much to watch, don't know where to start even.
You can read more about them , check their reviews and see what other people say about it too.
In my area they are not very popular , so I am very happy I heard about direct from a friend of mine.
