    Default Clarence F Thomas

In reference to colleges and universties using affirmative action in their enrollment processes, stated publicly yesterday that he doesn't know what the word 'diversity' means, after hearing it used a lot.

How is an obviously politically biased moron sitting on our SCOTUS?

I dunno what his actual middle initial might be, but he deserves this one. Yes.

It does get me irritated, having such a fine, joy-providing activity debased by even a passing association with such a person.

Gotta work on updating my cursing vocab.

I like the classics, but I'm open to learning. I do think it would nice to invent some modern cussing that gets away from the purely scatological. I get why we've linguistically co-opted feces to describe a bad thing, but why, FFS, is the one thing that most people would prolly agree is the single most pleasurable and important activity an adult human undertakes, and is the basis for a lot of our important culture, to be the universally accepted and used modern term for an insult or oath? It should be, according to an ex of mine, not 'fck you' but 'unfck you.'

"Just look at this non-fcking mess you've made!"

"I'm gonna lose my unfcked mind over this!"

"Not fck you and the pig you rode in on."

Reminds me of one of my all time favorite jokes: Guy sees a woman walking by with a dog, and says, "Where'd you get the pig?" "It's not a pig. It's a dog," she says. "I know it's a dog. I was talking to the dog."

I have a theory. I think he is a submissive personality. He was submissive to Justice Scalia and now he is submissive to his right-wing wife.

Thus the Asian students' association is arguing that the admissions profile should reflect a metric in which Asians are represented by more than 28%, and perhaps 1 in 3 students are of Asian heritage.

What metric is it where Asians should be represented by over 5 times their presence in the population?

    Who chooses the metric?
The Asian community wants the college to accept students based on "merit", be it grades, or test scores.

But the fight is over which group of rich kids should go to college. One would need to look at the racial demographics of the rich rather than the country.

55% of students receive need-based Harvard scholarships. 1 in 5 pays nothing to attend.

And note that the SCOTUS is just fine with legacy admissions, which are substantially race based, it's white privilege

for the sons and daughters of alums irrespective of academic merit.

And it is not a minor consideration at all - at some elite schools legacies amount to over 20% of all admissions

A friend who is a Harvard Law alum informs me that, were HL admissions solely based on academic merit

the school would be about 35% Jewish.

In my younger years, the folks in my circle used the expression "chaste thou" as a more appropriate term of usage.

ask Senator - now President - Joe Biden.. who is apparently still clueless.. he not that long ago said that he "did not anticipate" Republicans' effort to obstruct his agenda.

Well, he's amongst his peers now
    yep.

And now Clarence thinks he is part and parcel of that. So naive is the porn loving "Coke Can Clarence", if he was tossed out of his limo without "the robe" in certain parts of this country (Florida?) to walk down the road, things would quickly assume different proportions.

I can forgive Biden for Clarence, but I can't forget it. He is (was?) just as naive in his privilege

Are they? Has the issue ever been contested in any U.S. court?

If not... maybe it is time that it was by someone with wealthy backers to see the lawsuit through. Just to keep things fair.
